چکیده

Large periapical lesions, regardless of whether they are granulomas, abscesses or cysts, are primarily caused by root canal infection. Thus the treatment protocol should be elimination of etiological factors in the root canal system rather than their product, apical true cyst. A 10 year old female patient reported to the Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Dr R Ahmed Dental College & Hospital, Kolkata, with the chief complaint of pain and swelling in relation to upper front fractured teeth. Clinical and radiological findings were suggestive of periapical radicular cyst. Non-surgical endodontic therapy was performed using 1% sodium hypochlorite solution irrigant and Calcium hydroxide intra canal medicament. A 12 months follow-up radiographic examination revealed progressive involution of periapical radiolucency without any clinical symptoms. Periapical cysts respond favorably to non-surgical endodontic treatment and should be considered as primary treatment modality. Management of a Large Periapical Cyst: A Case Report

Traumatic injuries commonly affect the anterior teeth leading to slow death of the pulp. This may give rise to a periapical or radicular cyst which results from the proliferation of cell rests of Malassez following pulpal necrosis of a nonvital tooth. This condition is usually asymptomatic but can result in a slow-growth tumefaction in the affected region. On radiography the lesion can be seen ...

Management of large periapical cystic lesion by aspiration and nonsurgical endodontic therapy using calcium hydroxide paste.

AIM To report a case of conservative nonsurgical management of periapical lesions. BACKGROUND Small periapical lesions of endodontic origin usually heal by conventional endodontic therapy alone. Larger periapical lesions presumed to be cystic may require additional treatment protocols to aid in regression. Conservative nonsurgical management of such lesions eliminates the possible complicatio...

Nonsurgical management of a large periapical lesion using aspiration in combination with a triple antibiotic paste and calcium hydroxide

Persistent microorganisms in the root canal are known to cause endodontic treatments failure. Overextended gutta-percha can also act as a periradicular tissue irritant, leading to large periapical lesions. Retrieval of overextended gutta-percha with a nonsurgical approach can prove to be a challenge. This case describes the nonsurgical management of a large periapical lesion associated with ove...
